Ezekiel 24:6
Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it. Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.
The utterance belongs to the judgment pronounced upon Jerusalem when the city was invaded and laid under siege. It was directed against those who had refused to heed the word of the Lord. The bloody city is Jerusalem in its guilt for shed blood, and the pot whose scum still remains within it signifies a corruption that had not been cleansed or taken away. The command to bring out its contents piece by piece, allowing no lot to fall upon it, means the inhabitants were to be removed from Jerusalem to be punished by death and by captivity, with no casting of lots to choose between those spared and those destroyed.
