Ezekiel 24:8
That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered. That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
Ezekiel 24:8 stands within the sorrowful episode of chapter 24 in which the prophet himself is made a living sign to the people, displaying in his own sufferings and deprivations a foretaste of the terrible sufferings about to fall on Israel. Part of that sign is the famine that would overtake them, represented by his subsisting for a time on a famine diet. Another part is captivity and binding by enemies, represented by his lying fixed in one posture as if bound. Still another part is the foretold loss of their city and of the temple, which had been the pride of their life and the joy of their heart. And bereavement is represented by the death of his wife, for whom he is forbidden to sigh or cry or wail aloud.
