Ezekiel 25:2

Son of man, set thy face against the Ammonites, and prophesy against them;

The setting of the face against the Ammonites opens a prophecy against Ammon that belongs to a larger group of prophecies against the foreign nations and kingdoms surrounding Judah and Israel. That larger section is directed against seven foreign nations. The prophecies concerning the other nations are found in Ezekiel 25-31.

Ammon with the surrounding nations is addressed because they rejoiced when Judah was humiliated and God's sanctuary was made desolate. They mocked Jerusalem in its desolation after the city and the temple were destroyed, and God punished them for this. The prophecy announces their specific destruction, with Rabbah, Ammon's capital, to become a stable and place for camels and a resting place for flocks.

These prophecies about the surrounding kingdoms show how God brings down their pride. They also plead with Israel to turn to God. The fulfillment of this group of prophecies against the other nations is evident today.
