Ezekiel 29:21

In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Ezekiel 29:21 belongs to the prophecy of judgment against Egypt, announcing the certain fate to come upon Pharaoh and his host. It stands in Ezekiel 29-32 among the prophecies of other nations in which Ammon, Moab, Tyre and Egypt pass in review before the prophet. The declaration was made through the prophet six hundred years before Christ, while Egypt was struggling against Babylon for supremacy in world empire.

Egypt is presented as a former oppressor of God's people and a symbol of infidelity, and the chapter is among prophecies showing that God would bring down the pride of nations. The chapter's predictions include the drying up of Egypt's rivers and the abolition of its idols. Egypt, once one of the greatest kingdoms and even the greatest empire, was to become the lowest of the kingdoms, the basest of kingdoms.

Those predictions were literally fulfilled in a remarkable way whose fulfillment is evident today.
