Ezekiel 3:10

Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.

All of God's spoken words are to be taken inwardly into the heart and heard attentively with the ears before anything is delivered to others. The receiving comes first, and only then is the messenger to go to the captives, to the children of his people, and speak to them as Thus saith the Lord God. That speaking is to be done whether they will hear or whether they will forbear, whether they listen or refuse to listen. The words received are to be accepted as the Word of God, studied, obeyed, and made daily spiritual food. To receive them without responding in obedience leaves people accountable for the light they have been given.

God's workmen are to put entire dependence upon God, trusting Him as instructor and leaving the management of what belongs to the great I AM to Him. Each is to stand at his post of duty, because the Lord God has need of every agency that holds the truth in righteousness. Human instrumentalities are not to seek power and control the work nor take credit to themselves, but heavenly and human agencies are to be united with glory given to the Lord alone. In view of the cross of Calvary, people are to be pointed to Jesus as the Lamb of God. The third angel's message is to be proclaimed through human voices to go to the world with power and glory.

The verse applies at the present time to those who have set themselves decidedly against the messages of the Lord. It shows that the Lord will surely deal with His people now as He dealt with them in the past. Its message was to be given at the camp-meeting at Melrose but was held back. Many there did not know their true condition before God, with hearts and minds filled with doubt and unbelief and many lost in fog.
