Ezekiel 30:19

Thus will I execute judgments in Egypt: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Ezekiel 30:19 belongs to the prophecies against the nations, specifically the prophecies against Egypt in Ezekiel 29-32, declaring God's judgments upon Egypt. Its judgment includes Pharaoh and his host in Egypt's certain fate. Its judgment includes the destruction of Egypt's cities and the end of its rule over other nations, in its fall from power. The judgments come by fire and sword from the Nile delta to Ethiopia, including the overthrow of Egypt's idols and idol temples.

The verse announces the conquest and devastation of Egypt by Nebuchadnezzar. Egypt was a former oppressor of God's people and the symbol of black infidelity. Egypt fell from glory and wealth to dishonor and poverty because of its devotion to idols, and the judgments humble its pride and bring it low.

Through these judgments the Egyptians come to know that he is the LORD. Egypt, at that time one of the greatest kingdoms and at one time the greatest empire on earth, is brought low to become the basest of the kingdoms, never to rise again among the nations. The predictions against Egypt were literally fulfilled in its subsequent subjection to successive foreign rulers.

This dealing with Egypt illustrates to Israel how God deals with the kingdoms on all sides, given through twenty-two years of pleading for Israel to turn to God. The prophecy about Egypt is to be fulfilled when England takes complete control of Egypt and Turkey's nominal sovereignty over Egypt disappears.
