Ezekiel 30:7
And they shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted. And they shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted.
Ezekiel 30:7 declares as certain fate that Egypt with its land would lie desolate in the midst of countries already desolate, and her cities wasted in the midst of cities already wasted. It belongs to God's prophecy of judgment against Egypt and its idolatry, directed against Egypt, Pharaoh and his host. The desolation embraces both conquest and lasting humiliation, with the cities left desolate among other desolate countries and ruined cities.
It foretells Egypt losing its former supremacy and power among the nations, falling from a great empire to one of the basest of kingdoms. Egypt would be conquered, brought low and abased in lasting humiliation, and would never rise again among the nations.
The predicted desolation was literally fulfilled, and its fulfillment remains evident today. Its fulfillment was expected in England taking complete control of Egypt as Turkey's claimed sovereignty there passes away.
