Ezekiel 31:13

Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:

The verse portrays Assyria's collapse under the figure of a mighty cedar brought to ruin, with all the birds of the sky settling to remain upon its wreck and all the wild animals of the field coming to lodge upon its fallen branches. That desolate tree crowded only by birds and beasts means that the peoples and nations that once dwelt and found shelter under Assyria's dominion have left it and gone away. Assyria was overthrown because of its pride and its wickedness. Its ruin stands as a warning to all other nations not to lift themselves up in self-exaltation.
