Ezekiel 31:18
To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.
Glory and greatness give no protection to those who exalt themselves against God, for they shall be brought down. The pride of Assyria and its downfall illustrate this truth and stand as an enduring object lesson and warning to the end of time for nations that oppose God, including nations in the present age.
The question of to whom one is like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden is addressed by God to the nations on earth today that in arrogance and pride array themselves against Him. To them He declares that they shall be brought down with the trees of Eden to the nether parts of the earth, to lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with those slain by the sword. What was spoken to Pharaoh and all his multitude applies to every nation that fails to fulfill the divine purpose and exalts itself above the Most High.
