Ezekiel 35:9

I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Ezekiel 35:9 stands within a prophecy of judgment directed against Seir, that is Edom. The chapter containing it has been appealed to in support of a future return of the Jews, together with connected views concerning the reign of Christ and the inheritance of the saints. That use is to be rejected, because at the second coming of Christ the saints are taken to heaven while the earth is left desolate. To admit that taking of the saints to heaven and that leaving of the earth desolate overthrows the theory of the return of the Jews and the theories connected with it.
