Ezekiel 36:35
And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited.
After God cleanses His people from their sins, He restores the desolate land. That cleansing comes first, and the renewal of the land follows as His own work of restoration. The land that was desolate is made fruitful and beautiful like the garden of Eden. Its barrenness is replaced with fertility, so that what was waste becomes lovely and productive.
The ruined and empty places are rebuilt and again inhabited. Cities that lay waste and desolate are raised up, made secure, and filled with dwellers. They become fortified, fenced and strengthened against harm. The change is so complete and evident that the surrounding peoples recognize that the Lord Himself rebuilt what was ruined and replanted what was desolate.
This renewal was seen in Cooranbong's change from a place of idleness and poverty to a community where families cultivated the soil. There the once-unproductive ground was worked and made useful, answering to desolate land becoming like Eden.
