And he measured the breadth of the entry of the gate, ten cubits; and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits.
The ten cubits of breadth and thirteen cubits of length are part of God's measuring of every least part of His house with exactness. A man like brass stands in the gate with a reed in his hand, measuring the great east gate with its little chambers and doorways and arches and pillars, and recording every least item. Nothing is left unmeasured, for true measure is everything. That true measure is the very law of God brought into the least of human acts and dealings.
In its spiritual sense the measurement gives God's measure of a person. Learning and living God's law elevates and ennobles and sanctifies, makes one faithful in the least, loving God supremely and neighbor as self. By it character is built after the divine model through Jesus Christ. A righteous life of honest, faithful dealing builds up the whole righteous stature and structure. Such a life fits a person to live and rule among the greatest and prepares him for the glory to be revealed.
