Ezekiel 40:18

And the pavement by the side of the gates over against the length of the gates was the lower pavement.

In the vision the house of God is exactly measured, and the measuring is done with a reed in the hand of the man whose appearance is like brass as he stands in the gate. The measurement reaches to the pavement by the side of the gates over against the length of the gates, which is the lower pavement, showing that even that part is brought under God's exact measure. Every least item is recorded, from the little chambers and the doorways to the arches and the pillars and the great gate looking toward the east.

The true measure there is the very law of God carried into the least of human acts and dealings. The spiritual measure is God's measure of the man himself. It requires faithfulness in the least, expressed in honest and faithful dealing, in order to build a righteous stature and a character after the divine model. That character is elevated and ennobled and sanctified through Jesus Christ, and so prepared for the glory to be revealed.
