Ezekiel 40:19
Then he measured the breadth from the forefront of the lower gate unto the forefront of the inner court without, an hundred cubits eastward and northward. Then he measured the breadth from the forefront of the lower gate unto the forefront of the inner court without, an hundred cubits eastward and northward.
In the vision a man with the appearance of brass stands in the gate with a measuring reed in his hand and measures the whole building, recording the breadth from the forefront of the lower gate to the forefront of the outer inner court as a hundred cubits eastward and northward. He records every little chamber and every doorway and arch and pillar, and the great gate facing toward the east, with every least item taken by the reed and set down. Nothing is left unmeasured, for the measuring embraces the entire structure down to its smallest details.
The exactness of that measuring shows that true measure is everything, and that true measure is the very law of God. God has put that measure into the least of acts and dealings, so that no part of life is outside its reckoning.
By learning that measure and living by it, people are elevated and ennobled and sanctified and made faithful in that which is least. They are brought to love God supremely and their neighbor as themselves. Through the power and grace brought by Jesus Christ they build character after the divine model and prepare for the glory to be revealed.
In its spiritual sense the measure is God's measure of the person. What is needed now are persons whose characters and works measure life and things by God's exact measurement. A righteous life in honest and faithful dealing forms the whole righteous stature and structure, and into that completed structure the glory of God then comes.
