Ezekiel 40:38

And the chambers and the entries thereof were by the posts of the gates, where they washed the burnt offering.

The vision shows one of the small chambers with its entrance set by the posts of the gates, the place where the burnt offering was washed, measured with a reed by the man of brass-like appearance standing in the gate. Nothing in that temple structure was left unmeasured, for the measuring reed was applied to every least item and its dimensions were recorded. Chambers and doorways and arches and pillars were all taken, even to the great gate looking toward the east. True measure is everything, and true measure is the very law of God.

God therefore puts His law into the least of human acts and dealings, so that no small transaction stands outside His standard. Faithfulness in the least, even in the mere wheat measure, elevates and ennobles and sanctifies the heart and affections. Such faithfulness builds character after the divine model, preparing it for the glory to be revealed. The spiritual measure is God's measure of the man, calling for a righteous life in honest, faithful dealing. That righteous dealing makes up the whole righteous stature and structure, formed by loving God supremely and the neighbor as self.
