Ezekiel 40:41

Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables, whereupon they slew their sacrifices.

The eight tables by the side of the gate where sacrifices were slain belong to the least details recorded when one with the appearance of brass stood in the gate of the house and measured the whole building with a reed in his hand, noting every small chamber and doorway and arch and pillar and the great gate facing east. That careful measuring shows that the true measure is the very law of God brought into the least acts and dealings. Such spiritual measuring is God's measurement of a person for elevation and sanctification through faithfulness in the least.

After the measuring was finished the glory of God entered, and the house was to be shown to Israel so they would be ashamed of their iniquities, for the law of the house upon the top of the mountain is most holy. Therefore the detail calls for people now whose characters and works measure life and things by God's exact measurement, since a righteous life of honest, faithful dealing builds up the whole righteous stature and structure.
