Ezekiel 41:19
So that the face of a man was toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side: it was made through all the house round about. So that the face of a man was toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side: it was made through all the house round about.
The brass-like figure standing in the gate holds a reed and records even the smallest carved ornament of the house, the human face turned toward a palm on one side and the young lion's face turned toward a palm on the other, repeated all around throughout the building, showing that divine measuring extends with exactness to the least detail of God's house. Nothing is too minute to be measured, for the measuring work takes in the carved faces and palms as fully as walls and gates. True measure is everything.
That measure is God's own law brought down into the smallest acts and dealings of human life. Learned and lived, it lifts people higher, ennobles them, sanctifies them, makes them faithful in the least, and builds character after the divine pattern. Faithfulness in little things is therefore the proof of true measurement.
What is called for is men and women whose character and work measure all of life by God's exact spiritual standard. That standard is love to God supremely and love to neighbor as self, worked out in a righteous life of honest and faithful dealing. Such dealing forms the whole righteous stature and structure of character. It prepares a people for the glory to be revealed when the glory of God enters in.
