Ezekiel 41:20

From the ground unto above the door were cherubims and palm trees made, and on the wall of the temple.

Ezekiel's vision opens with a man whose appearance was like brass standing in the gate with a measuring reed in his hand to measure the whole building, its little chambers and doorways and arches and pillars and the great gate facing toward the east. Even the cherubim and palm trees carved from the ground to above the door on the temple wall were exactly recorded as one of the least details of that measurement. In that exactness lies everything, for the measurement is the very law of God.

God brings that law into the least of human acts and dealings, leaving nothing unmeasured. His spiritual measure of a person is fulfilled in loving God supremely and one's neighbor as oneself, which is the whole duty of man. The vision closes with the glory of God coming in, and with the command to show the house to Israel that they may be ashamed of their iniquities and measure the pattern. For the law of the house is that upon the top of the mountain the whole limit thereof shall be most holy.

By learning and living that exact measurement through the power and grace brought through Jesus Christ, people are elevated and ennobled and sanctified in heart and affection. They become faithful in the least, fitted to live and rule among the greatest and to be entrusted with the divine cause. By the will of God they build up character after the divine model in preparation for the glory to be revealed. What is now needed is persons whose characters and works measure life and things by God's exact measurement. A righteous life in honest, faithful dealings makes up the whole righteous stature and structure.
