Ezekiel 41:25

And there were made on them, on the doors of the temple, cherubims and palm trees, like as were made upon the walls; and there were thick planks upon the face of the porch without.

The carving of cherubim and palm trees upon the doors of the temple, made like those upon the walls, with thick planks upon the face of the porch without, is one least item of the house of God taken by exact divine measurement. It was measured with a reed by the man whose appearance was like brass standing in the gate, and recorded together with all the little chambers and doorways and arches and pillars and the great gate toward the east. Nothing was left unmeasured, for even this small detail of ornament and timber was brought under the same divine rule as the larger structure. That exact measuring is the very law of God brought into the least of acts and dealings. It is the spiritual measure of the man.

It was given as a pattern to show the house and shame iniquities. It is meant to elevate and ennoble and sanctify the heart and affections through the power and grace brought through Jesus Christ. By that pattern character is built after the divine model, by loving God supremely and the neighbor as self. It makes men faithful in the least in honest dealing. That faithfulness in little things fits them to live and rule among the greatest in preparation for the glory to be revealed.
