Ezekiel 41:9
The thickness of the wall, which was for the side chamber without, was five cubits: and that which was left was the place of the side chambers that were within. The thickness of the wall, which was for the side chamber without, was five cubits: and that which was left was the place of the side chambers that were within.
The five-cubit thickness of the outer wall for the side chambers shows that God's exact measurement reaches to even the least parts of His house. Nothing small is left unmeasured, for the side rooms and the wall without them are brought under the same divine rule as the greater parts of the temple. Every little chamber and doorway and arch and pillar was measured with the reed in the hand of the figure like brass, and every least item was recorded. No detail was passed by, but each minute feature was taken, noted, and set down in order.
After all was thus measured, the glory of God came in to declare the law of the house. True measure is everything, and it is the very law of God, placed into the least of human acts and dealings. By learning that measure and living it, men are elevated and ennobled and sanctified. The spiritual measure is God's measure of a person, and what is needed now is men and women whose characters and works measure life and things by that exact standard. Such are faithful in the least, loving God supremely and their neighbor as themselves, and building character after the divine model in honest, faithful dealing.
