Ezekiel 42:10

The chambers were in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, over against the separate place, and over against the building.

The verse belongs to the Lord's directions about the buildings to be prepared, showing that He gives careful plans for their construction. It describes one of the little chambers set in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, facing both the separate place and the building. That chamber was exactly measured with a reed by the man with the appearance of brass standing in the gate. Every smallest doorway and arch and pillar was recorded, with the great gate toward the east.

True measure is everything in the verse, for it is the very law of God applied to the smallest of human acts and dealings. This spiritual measure is God's measure of a person. Faithfulness in the least thing, even in a mere measure of wheat, elevates and ennobles and sanctifies the heart and affections. It builds character after the divine model by the power and grace brought through Jesus Christ by the will of God, preparing for the glory to be revealed. It forms the whole righteous stature and structure through a righteous life of honest, faithful dealings in loving God supremely and the neighbor as oneself.
