Ezekiel 42:20
He measured it by the four sides: it had a wall round about, five hundred reeds long, and five hundred broad, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place. He measured it by the four sides: it had a wall round about, five hundred reeds long, and five hundred broad, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place.
In Ezekiel 42 the Lord gives directions for buildings to be prepared, showing that He devises and plans and is ready to help when matters are handled properly. The house is measured with the reed in the hand of the man like brass, chamber by chamber and doorway and arch and pillar and gate, with every least item recorded. The wall is measured at five hundred reeds long and five hundred broad to make a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place, and this shows that true measure is everything, the very law of God.
This means God puts His law into the least of men's acts and dealings, and the spiritual measure is God's measure of the man. Learning and living that measure by being faithful in the least and loving God supremely and neighbor as self elevates, ennobles, and sanctifies men. It builds them up after the divine model by the power and grace brought through Jesus Christ.
What is now needed is persons whose characters and works measure life and things by the exact measurement of God. For a righteous life in honest, faithful dealings makes the whole righteous stature and structure.
