Ezekiel 43:17
And the settle shall be fourteen cubits long and fourteen broad in the four squares thereof; and the border about it shall be half a cubit; and the bottom thereof shall be a cubit about; and his stairs shall look toward the east. And the settle shall be fourteen cubits long and fourteen broad in the four squares thereof; and the border about it shall be half a cubit; and the bottom thereof shall be a cubit about; and his stairs shall look toward the east.
The measured pattern of the house is set down to the smallest particular, with the upper settle fourteen cubits long and fourteen broad in its four squares, its border half a cubit, its base a cubit round about, and its steps facing toward the east. That pattern was to be measured out and shown to Israel, so that by holding their lives beside its exact standard they might see and be ashamed of their iniquities. The minuteness of the measuring shows that God's law demands exactness, with no detail too small to be required. Men are therefore to measure character and conduct by that divine standard, and honest, faithful dealing in every transaction is what builds up a righteous life.
