The Prince Eats Bread at the Closed East Gateby emmanuel_higgins

Ezekiel 44:2

Then said the LORD unto me; This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it; because the LORD, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut.

The gate is to remain shut, never to be opened, and no man is to enter in by it because the Lord, the God of Israel, has entered in by it. Its shut condition marks it as set apart, reserved by that divine entry from common use. The Lord retains the right to determine its use, and that right is to be upheld. This asserts God's claim to His rights when people would use His gifts for their own advantage.
