Ezekiel 47:14

And ye shall inherit it, one as well as another: concerning the which I lifted up mine hand to give it unto your fathers: and this land shall fall unto you for inheritance.

The verse stands within the vision of waters coming out from under the threshold of the house toward the east, on the south side of the altar. They begin as a small, very small rivulet, then flow toward the east country and go down into the desert and on into the sea, and where they enter the waters are healed. This growing, healing stream pictures a work that is to widen continually outward from its small beginning.

Its meaning is that the work reaches to the east and to the west, to the islands of the sea and to every part of the world. It is not to be centered in any one place, but is to spread in all directions. Strength and development come through bearing burdens, so each institution is to stand independent, working out God's plan under His direction. Power is not to be gathered into a few persons or into one place, but responsibility is to be shared where the work is carried forward.
