Ezekiel 7:2
Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land. Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land.
An end has come upon the whole land of Israel, reaching its four corners. It introduces the chapter's message of judgment on Israel. The chapter's graphic prophecy of judgment reaches down to the present day.
While the chapter has an application in some particulars to the 1850s, no specific application of this verse itself is given. The chapter describes the coming time of trouble for the nations just before the second coming of Christ, identified with the outpouring of the seven last plagues. The verse marks the time when God's restraint of the winds of strife ends, when universal war and commotion held back until God's closing work of warning and saving souls is complete. Read with Ezekiel 14:14 and 7:11, its announcement of an end upon the land marks a time of alarm and judgment when even the prayers of Noah, Daniel, and Job cannot save a nation, though their own souls may be saved, so intercession for the nation will not avert its judgment. The chapter is to be read as a warning that should lead God's people to mourn and weep rather than joke and jest.
