Ezekiel 7:9
And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth. And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth.
Ezekiel 7:9 belongs to the prophecies of judgment against Judah and Jerusalem for their conduct and abominations. It declares that God will show no sparing or compassion but will repay people according to their ways and the abominations in their midst, so that they will know that He is the Lord who strikes them. When the appointed day of judgment comes the guilty are not spared or pitied, but through this punishment they come to know the Lord who smites.
The seventh chapter is a graphic prophecy reaching down to 1910. It foretells the coming time of trouble when the nations will face calamity before Christ's glorious return, showing that solemn time is near. The morning or beginning of that trouble was at hand, with the sword already in the land and pestilence and famine soon to follow. The verse warns that violence will fill the earth.
The chapter gives testimony about the character God's people should have in the last days. It is a warning to be heeded with mourning and weeping rather than joking and jesting.
