Ezekiel 8:14

Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD’s house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.

The vision came to Ezekiel in Jerusalem in the sixth year of the reign of Zedekiah, exposing the hidden abominations being committed there. What was shown at this point was one of those abominations, the sight of women engaged in ritual mourning for Tammuz. The place of the act was the doorway of the north-facing gate of the house of the Lord, the passage leading from the outer court into the inner court.

It belonged to the greater abominations being practiced inside the sacred precincts themselves. It formed part of the wickedness carried on in the high places throughout the land of Judah. That course of evil filled the land with violence and stirred God to anger. Therefore He declared that He would act in fury, showing no pity and refusing to listen even when they cried out to Him with a loud voice.
