Ezra 10:24

Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.

Of the singers the verse names Eliashib, and of the porters it names Shallum and Telem and Uri. It belongs to the detailed account of Ezra's effort to separate the people from forbidden heathen alliances. That practical separation from the world and agreement to do God's commandments came before the people could be taught the law. That separation prepared the people spiritually for rebuilding Jerusalem. The verse stands in the final stage of the book's history of the decree.
