Ezra 2:33

The children of Lod, Hadid, and Ono, seven hundred twenty and five.

The verse belongs to the account and list of those who responded to Cyrus's decree and proclamation by going up to Jerusalem and to their own land to rebuild the temple. That return was made with Zerubbabel in the first year of Cyrus and is distinct from the later company that went up with Ezra. Within that list, the verse records 725 people from Lod, Hadid, and Ono who returned. The total number of those already returned with Zerubbabel was 42,360 persons.

Nearly fifty thousand took up the offer of return. Cyrus's decree ended the captivity by making return possible, even though many Jews remained in Babylon and in exile. The return forms the historical setting for Haggai's message, dated about 520 B.C., roughly fifteen years after the temple foundations were laid.
