The Nethinims: the children of Ziha, the children of Hasupha, the children of Tabbaoth,
Ezra 2:43 belongs to the list of those who responded to Cyrus's proclamation and went up to Jerusalem. The chapter records those already returned to Jerusalem with Zerubbabel in the first year of Cyrus, to the number of 42,360 persons. Those counted are distinct from the many Jews who still remained in Babylon and were invited to return to Jerusalem. The verse is part of the account of the nearly fifty thousand who accepted Cyrus's offer and returned to their own land when the captivity ended.
The first two chapters of Ezra, including this verse, record Cyrus's decree and the beginning of the rebuilding of the temple. They do not describe the later commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem associated with 457 B.C.
