Ezra 3:4
They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required; They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;
After returning to Jerusalem, the people began these services in the seventh month, while the foundation of the temple was still not yet laid. They kept the Feast of Tabernacles and restored the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom and as each day's duty required, offering the prescribed offerings each day according to that day's requirements. These observances reestablished the sacred services that had been interrupted when Jerusalem was destroyed. Restoring the daily offerings encouraged the returned remnant as they prepared to rebuild the temple and restore the ancient worship services.
God's people are to honor Him at once by rising up without delay to build a house for Him where they can worship in humbleness of mind and kneel in worship. There they are to serve Him fittingly and in order, and to dedicate it to Him for worship as a witness to the truth they believe in the place He has directed.
