Ezra 6:22
And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel. And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
The returned exiles kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy, because the Lord had made them joyful. Their joy was joined to the Lord's turning of the heart of the king of Assyria toward them, to strengthen their hands for continuing the work on the house of God. That turning of the ruler's heart was Darius's decree and support for rebuilding the house of God, showing how the Lord moves upon the hearts of kings and rulers in behalf of His people to strengthen their hands in the work.
God still moves upon the rulers of the world to give help and favors for the advancement of His cause. Help that He moves rulers and other unbelievers to give for the work is not to be cut off or refused merely because the givers do not share the faith, for His people are to receive favors as well as to impart them. This receiving of God-moved help includes the religious liberty work. And the strengthening of the builders' hands calls God's people to advance the work in Washington without delay and without lack of funds, by giving financial support for the training center there.
