Galatians 3:18

For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

The inheritance is by promise and not by law, for God gave it to Abraham by promise. The covenant of grace given to Abraham belongs to Gentiles as well as to Jews. Gentiles who knew nothing of circumcision are brought under that covenant through Christ, and the blessings given to the Jewish nation are given equally to Gentiles who accept Christ as Saviour.

The teaching on the covenants in Galatians 3:15-25 is clear and convincing evidence that leaves the covenant question plain. Every candid and unprejudiced mind receives it, and work spent to produce a different position on the covenants is spent for nothing. Opposition to this plain teaching repeats the course of those who followed Christ with spies to catch His words and then with unsanctified minds misinterpreted and twisted them to deceive the people, raise false issues, and cloud and mislead minds. Turning from this plain light comes from fear of having to accept what is taught about the law, and no one is prepared to receive light either to establish or to refute a position on it until truly converted before God.
