Galatians 3:22
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
The verse belongs to the broader controversy over the law in Galatians, to the teaching on the covenants and the law in Galatians 3:15-25, and more narrowly to the disputed question in Galatians 3:19-25. That question was expected to come up, with teaching old and new brought by the men from the Pacific Coast. It gives plain, clear and convincing light that every candid, unprejudiced mind would receive, and its true position has already been presented. It was sent from God in clear distinct rays to revive His people and magnify Christ, in harmony with the word of the Lord and with the light already given about the righteousness of Christ.
The exact point of interpretation is a very small matter, a mere mote. The truth on it needs no harsh, sympathy-seeking, divisive spirit to sustain it. Going forward into its teaching and receiving it brings the rich blessing of God. Taking wrong positions on it without cherishing the Spirit of Christ brought loss to the church. Coming armed and equipped to resist it puts one under delusion with false impressions through the work of Satan, who raised an alarm to hold people away from the light and keep the blessing from them.
Opposition to it comes from fear of having to accept what it teaches about the law. That fear leads some to turn away from plain light that should be accepted. It is handled the way the Jews handled the words of Christ, hanging on words to misinterpret and twist them and making false issues to cloud and mislead minds. Only truly converted people can receive light to establish or refute a position on it.
