For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus means that all who have faith in Christ Jesus are children of God, belonging to one family of heavenly birth and origin with free access to God as Father as sons and daughters of faith. The Galatians to whom it was written had been given to idol worship, but heard the message of salvation and freedom from sin, and by hearing with faith received the Spirit and became God's children. They became children when Jesus was presented as the sinner's only hope and God's love revealed in the sacrifice of His only begotten Son, with the cross kept continually before them until hearts were broken and many asked what they must do to be saved.
This faith rests on Christ's atoning sacrifice, by which He redeemed the fallen by obeying God's law and paying the penalty of disobedience. Through faith in that atoning sacrifice the sons of Adam may become sons of God, for by taking human nature Christ elevates humanity, and through connection with Him fallen people are given another trial and may truly bear the name sons of God. Those who receive Him and rightly receive the gospel become children through faith, and those baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Being a child of God by faith means being a Christian in the truest sense of the word and having the evidence of being born again, and exercising faith in Christ entitles a person to share in His divine nature.
This sonship is connected with faith expressed by placing the will on God's side, with the atoning blood, and with sharing in the divine nature. It gives believers assurance that God loves them as He loves His Son, bringing tender love and continual blessings from God. Under the new covenant those who become children are also joint heirs with Christ, sharing the blessings heaven provides for this life and the life to come, and the bread and wine of the communion service keep Christ's sacrifice for each individual believer within fallen humanity before them. The truth given in Galatians 3 about the law will bear investigation and will not fall when criticized, and must be searched in the Scriptures for oneself in order to give a reason for the hope within with meekness and fear; holding correct ideas is not enough, for being Christians with a true, open, frank, Christlike spirit is vital, and the truth must sanctify and bring forth fruit after Christ's order, not bitterness.
Living as God's children requires keeping the soul guarded and full of heaven's light, grace, and life against the adversary leading into strange paths, declaring divine sonship by following heaven's law instead of the world's customs and policies, and acting as Christ's purchased possession by putting away envy and evil surmising and loving and helping one another onward and upward as Christ loved. Since heaven is full of praise and thanksgiving, those made His children by faith should express gratitude and thanksgiving for His kindness rather than bear mournful testimonies. Black students who believe are children of the Lord Jesus Christ, their heavenly King, and members of the royal family preparing for a place in the Lord's family above, so they are to act their part now as His missionaries by acting properly according to His ways and politely as fits future royalty, and teachers are to keep this identity before them every day in school and therefore speak and act toward them without harshness, coarseness, or roughness, in harmony with Bible principles.
