So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
Those who live by faith share the blessing given to faithful Abraham. Faith means trusting that God knows what He means when He speaks and firmly means what He says. Abraham is the father of the faithful, and his faithfulness was shown in his godly home life, in carefully following God's commands and teaching his household to follow the Lord and do what is just.
Israel according to the flesh failed the high destiny to which God called them, failing in unbelief to become the light of the world, despising God's mercy and forfeiting their blessings as His chosen people. Yet God did not cast off the seed of Abraham, and His glorious purposes undertaken through Israel will be fulfilled. All who through Christ become children of faith are counted as Abraham's seed and share Abraham's blessing, inheriting the covenant promises.
Like Abraham they are called to guard and to make known to the world the law of God and the gospel of His Son. The shining of the gospel light through the disciples of Jesus to those in darkness, with thousands from Gentile lands coming to its rising, is the increase and prosperity of Israel.
