As part of Galatians 4:22-31, the verse gives clear and convincing evidence that establishes the true position on the covenants. Its covenant truth is plain light that every candid, unprejudiced mind would receive. It presents a position of perfect freedom that clearly distinguishes light as light and darkness as darkness.
Turning from this light comes from fear of having to accept the law question in Galatians. It comes also from an unconverted condition like that of those who hung on Christ's words. That condition followed Him with spies to repeat, misinterpret and twist His words, deceived the people, made false issues, and clouded and misled minds.
