Galatians 4:27

For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

The Jerusalem above is the mother, and the saints are her children of promise. The mother and the children and the wife of the Lamb and the guests called to the marriage are all distinct persons, so the church cannot itself be the Lamb's wife, for then there would be no separate children to be her children and no separate guests to be called. The surrounding context of Galatians 4:21-31 gives clear and convincing plain light that presents the true position on the covenants, which every candid, unprejudiced mind would receive as truth.

Its teaching on the law in Galatians must be accepted rather than turned from through fear of its consequences. Rejection of that teaching comes from an unconverted state that misinterprets and twists Scripture to make false issues and to cloud minds, just as spies hung upon Christ's words to repeat and misinterpret them.
