Galatians 4:31

So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

As the conclusion of the teaching on the covenants in Galatians 4:21-31, the verse declares the believer's identity as not children of the bondwoman or of bondage, but of the free. This covenant teaching is clear and convincing light, plain to every candid and unprejudiced mind. The true position on the covenants has been presented, and to hold it is to have the truth on which this freedom rests.

To be children of the free is to stand in perfect freedom with nothing to hold back. It is freedom with no brakes to put on, free to call light light and darkness darkness.

Turning away from this truth comes from fear of having to accept what Galatians teaches about the law. Such turning leads to wasted investigation, to spending investigation for nothing to find a different position on the covenants. It repeats what the Jews did with the words of Christ in watching, repeating, misinterpreting and twisting Scripture to mean what unsanctified minds want, making false issues and clouding, deceiving and misleading minds.
