Abram and Sarai Stand in the Land of CanaanBible World

Genesis 13:14

And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

After Lot was separated from him, Abram was told to lift his eyes and look from the place where he stood toward the north and south and east and west.
By that word God renewed His promise and gave to Abram and his descendants as a forever, enduring inheritance all the land he could see, the whole country.
That gift embraced the whole land of Canaan promised to Abraham and his descendants.
At the same time God promised that his descendants would be beyond counting, too numerous to count.

Though Abram then had no son, God later promised him a son and reinforced the promise of vast descendants by likening them to the stars.
In connection with the promise God told Abraham to walk through the land.
In response he settled at Hebron under the oaks of Mamre and built an altar to the Lord, remaining content with a simple pastoral life while Lot kept the perilous luxury of the vale of Sodom.

Abraham owned none of the promised land during his life, even having to buy land to bury Sarah, and he and his descendants remain strangers and sojourners in this present world.
The full inheritance comes only in the future, after the earth is purified, when the promise finds its lasting fulfillment in the earth made new as Abraham's permanent home and lasting possessions.
