Genesis 23:10

And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,

The verse stands in Abraham's courteous business transaction and negotiation with the Hittites, the sons of Heth, to purchase a cave as a burial place for his beloved Sarah. That burial place was the cave of Machpelah near Hebron, later called Mamre, which became the burial place of the patriarchs. Although God had promised Canaan to Abraham, he still owned no land there and had to buy ground in which to bury Sarah.

His lack of possessions in the promised land did not weaken his hope of future immortal life on the purified earth as his home. Even while grieving, Abraham as a man of God bowed before the Hittites and treated them with respect and courtesy. His conduct gives the finest example of the power of true courtesy and shows what a Christian gentleman is in knowing what is due from one person to another.
