Genesis 24:19
And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking. And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.
The verse belongs to the account of Abraham arranging a suitable wife and companion for Isaac, and of Isaac's marriage guided in this way. Abraham appointed his experienced, God-fearing servant to this task of choosing a wife for Isaac. The marriage was thus arranged through his father's experienced servant and entrusted to God's direction.
After giving the servant a drink, Rebekah courteously and willingly offered to draw water for his camels also until they had finished drinking. In doing so she displayed generous kindness in practical service. Her conduct was part of the evidence the servant had asked God to provide in choosing a wife for Isaac.
The account shows the responsibility of parents to guide their children's affections, directing them toward companions judged suitable and teaching them to respect parental authority. Isaac's willing submission and trust in God are held up as an example for children who profess to fear God. Such children should not assume they are competent to choose a spouse without their parents' consent, but should make the matter one of prayer and follow God-fearing parental guidance.
