Genesis 24:23

And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father’s house for us to lodge in?

The question about parentage and lodging belongs to the account of Abraham's servant seeking a wife for Isaac as part of Abraham's arrangements for Isaac's marriage. It falls within the finding of a wife for Isaac that is used to show Isaac's acceptance of his father's judgment in the choice. That mission was entrusted to God's direction to obtain a wife from Nahor's family, and it was carried out without taking Isaac away from Canaan.

The course followed shows that parents should guide their children's affections toward suitable companions for marriage. The arrangements for the marriage present that parental guidance together with teaching children obedience.

Isaac's marriage was guided through his father's experienced and God-fearing servant, with trust that God would direct the choice. Isaac accepted his father's judgment in the matter, submitting to the servant in the choice of a wife and trusting God to direct it. His willing submission is held up as an example of obedience for children who profess to fear God.
