Genesis 24:29

And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well.

This verse stands in the account of how a wife was chosen for Isaac and of Isaac's marriage. In that account Abraham sought a wife for Isaac from his relatives in Mesopotamia, charging his trusted servant not to take Isaac from Canaan and to seek a woman willing to leave her family. He trusted God to guide the choice, confident that God's angel would go before the servant.

The account is an example of parents guiding their children's affections toward suitable companions and teaching them obedience. Isaac submitted to his father's judgment and arrangement, carried out through his father's experienced servant, and trusted God's direction to guide the choice of a wife rather than choosing independently.

His submission and trust is an example of obedience for children who profess to fear God. His marriage is a picture of domestic happiness.
