Genesis 24:32

And the man came into the house: and he ungirded his camels, and gave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the men’s feet that were with him.

The verse belongs to the account of Abraham arranging through his servant to seek a wife for Isaac. In that carrying out of the mission the servant found Rebekah to be Isaac's wife. The choice of a wife was entrusted to God's direction, with Isaac himself trusting God to direct it. The arrangement aimed to preserve the worship of the true God. It was made with a father's judgment and through a God-fearing servant.

Isaac's marriage is presented as an example of obedience that led to tender domestic happiness. The account is recorded as an example for parents, showing they should guide their children's affections toward suitable marriage companions. Children should respect parental authority and judgment rather than considering themselves competent to choose without parental consent.

Isaac's case is held up especially for children who profess to fear God, teaching them to choose in the fear of God and to seek divine guidance by making the choice a subject of prayer.
