Genesis 24:52
And it came to pass, that, when Abraham’s servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth. And it came to pass, that, when Abraham’s servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.
This moment belongs to the mission entrusted to Abraham's servant to find a wife for Isaac, a task undertaken with confidence that God would guide its outcome. When the servant heard the family's words, he bowed himself to the earth and worshiped the Lord. That worship came after Rebekah's father and brother recognized that the matter proceeded from the Lord, and it expressed gratitude and acknowledgment of God's guidance in selecting Rebekah as Isaac's wife. It also acknowledged the answer to his prayer for direction in the choice, showing him to be God-fearing and prayerfully reliant on divine guidance in arranging the marriage.
The larger account shows Abraham arranging and carefully providing a suitable wife for Isaac. In doing so he fulfilled his responsibility to guide his household and to direct his son's affections toward a suitable companion. This course is held up as an example of parents guiding their children's affections toward suitable companions, and of obedience to God.
The account also shows Isaac submitting to his father's servant to choose a wife for him, accepting the choice while trusting God to direct it. His example is held up for children in later generations to follow, especially for those who profess to fear God. Choosing a marriage partner should therefore be approached in the fear of God and made a subject of prayer.
