Genesis 28:1
And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan. And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
Isaac blessed Jacob and sent him away as a fugitive fleeing Esau's wrath, which threatened Jacob with death. In blessing him, Isaac renewed to him the covenant promise as its inheritor. He charged him not to take a wife from the daughters of Canaan but to seek a wife from his mother's family in Mesopotamia.
Jacob carried his father's blessing with him from home, yet set out with a deeply troubled heart with only his staff in his hand for a journey of hundreds of miles through country inhabited by wild, roving tribes. In remorse and timidity he avoided men lest his angry brother trace him, fearing he had lost forever the blessing God purposed to give him while Satan pressed temptations upon him. Isaac later became convinced that the blessing rightly belonged to Jacob. After Jacob fled from Esau's anger, his mother Rebekah never saw him again.
