Genesis 29:10
And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother’s brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother’s brother.
Upon first meeting Rachel, Jacob drew near and performed an act of service for her household by removing the stone covering the mouth of the well and providing water for Laban's flocks. That helpful labor marked his introduction to Rachel and to the family of Laban, his mother's brother. He had come among them as a poor and solitary traveler with nothing to commend him but his own hands. Yet his diligence and skill quickly proved his worth, causing him to be valued and prompting Laban to urge him to remain.
