Genesis 29:22

And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.

This verse stands within Laban's preparations for Jacob's marriage in connection with Rachel. Jacob loved Rachel and had labored seven years in order to receive her as his wife. At that point Laban brought together the men of the place and made a feast. He used that wedding feast to deceive Jacob by substituting Leah for Rachel. By that act Jacob was led into a marriage he had not intended. The larger marriage account illustrates the custom of a bridegroom paying a dowry or working for the father of the bride, while the feast itself in this verse is given without explanation.
